Frequently asked questions.
Why is the price determined by the number of employees of the Licensee?

The idea is that larger businesses derive more value from the fonts, regardless of the number of computers they'll be installing the fonts on or how large of an advertising agency designed the brand. A large corporation has far more resources and visibility than an individual or small business. We feel that the price of the font license should reflect that.
The License Owner’s size is determined by the total number of employees, freelancers, and contractors at the company, regardless of the scope or duration of the project or use. License pricing is based on this total size, not the number of installations or users.

Who needs the license? Myself or my client?

In most cases, it's the client commissioning the work not the designer or agency creating it. As long as the fonts are being used for the branding, materials, promotion and marketing of the licensee, only the client needs the license. The designer or agency would be considered a subcontractor. If the designer or agency wishes to also use the fonts for purposes not intended for the Licensee, they would need their own license.

I purchased a license under a previous license structure. Do I need to obtain a brand new license? Am I still covered?

All previously purchased Central Type licenses will continue to be honored under the terms of the original agreement. If you feel there's a strong reason to update your license or if you have any questions, please reach out to mark@centraltype.com to discuss.
